Why would someone make up such a bizarre story?

Damnit, JB, that’s the freaking heart of the mess for me.

If I could have figured it out, I would have given up on this crap a long, long time ago.

There’s so much weird faking and game-playing going on in this whole scenario. Everyone pulling everybody else’s leg.

But for me it’s like the crop circles: why? Why are they doing this? What’s the point? Why bother?

It’s the same damn thing that intrigues me about the May Day Mystery and Neurocam.

I think Marcus is right. It’s all a joke. But what kind?

This kind?

Ludibrium is a word derived from Latin ludus (plural ludi), meaning a plaything or a trivial game. In Latin ludibrium denotes an object of fun, and at the same time, of scorn and derision, and it also denotes a capricious game itself: e.g., ludibria ventis (Virgil), “the playthings of the winds”, ludibrium pelagis (Lucretius), “the plaything of the waves”; Ludibrio me adhuc habuisti (Plautus), “Until now you have been toying with me.”

The term “ludibrium” was used frequently by Johann Valentin Andreae (1587 – 1654) in phrases like “the ludibrium of the fictitious Rosicrucian Fraternity” when describing the Rosicrucian Order, most notably in his Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz, published anonymously in 1616, of which Andreae subsequently claimed to be the author and which has been taken seriously, as virtually a third of the Rosicrucian Manifestos.[1] However, in his Peregrini in Patria errores (1618) Andreae compares the world to an amphitheatre where no one is seen in their true light. This conception of the Rosicrucian world as theater was popularized by the French Situationist Guy Debord in Society of the Spectacle (1967).
Paul Arnold translated Andreae’s usage as farce,[2] but this conception has been contested by Frances Yates (Yate 1999), who suggests that Andreae’s use of the term implies more nearly some sort of “Divine Comedy”, a dramatic allegory played in the political domain during the tumult which preceded the Thirty Years’ War in Germany.

Similarly, the melancholic Jacques in As You Like It (1599-1600) asserts that “All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players.”
It has been suggested that Situationist International was a ludibrium devised by Asger Jorn. Like the Rosicrucians, the Situationist International was a very small group which nevertheless became notorious, even if only for a while. This conception can function as a technique whereby mental projections can be cast into the social imagination.

Robert Anton Wilson has suggested that the Priory of Sion is a modern ludibrium:
The Priory Of Sion fascinates me, because it has all the appearances of being a real conspiracy, and yet if you look at the elements another way, it looks like a very complicated practical joke by a bunch of intellectual French aristocrats. And half of the time I believe it really is a practical joke by a bunch of intellectual French aristocrats. And then part of the time I think it is a real conspiracy.[3]

And then RAW turns around and writes shit like this.

The surrealist movement was launched in 1923 – the year James Joyce, after making cryptic notes for several months, finally wrote the first three-page fragment of _Finnegan’s Wake_, and the year Hitler was initiated in the Thule Society, and occult secret society with a paranoid dread of all other occult secret societies, which it claimed were run by Jews and Freemasons – anyway, that year, the First Surrealist Manifesto promised or threatened “total transformation of mind and all that resembles it.” Among the founders was Raymond Roussel, former associate of Aleister Crowley and Father Sauniere in the Hermetic Brotherhood of Light, and among the later recruits was Jean Cocteau, who eventually became 23rd Grand Master of the Priory of Sion.
– Robert Anton Wilson – _Coincidance_ in _Semiotext[e] USA_

There was a Hermetic Brotherhood of Light (Luxor). I have no idea if the people he names were members. The one person writing about them is a “Gnostic” bishop named T. Allen Greenfield and we have had some interesting, if bizarre, conversations.

Throwaway paragraph. Bullshit. What in there is proveable?

One weird thing, though.

I’ve pointed this out before. Cocteau’s signature on the peedox has the little star next to it. That doesn’t mean the signature is authentic. It does mean whoever put that little star there knows he used to do this. Did they know why?

I’ve read dozens of “priory” books and AFAICT I’m the first person to have noticed the connection.

He put a star on his forehead in the mural he did for Notre Dame de France. That appears in Henry Lincoln’s book. … ios02a.htm

Also in there is a Black Sun (oh crap here we go) and a Blue Rose, which was BTW a symbol for the Symbolists in early Russia.

The Blue Rose is a symbol for the imagination, because it is something that can exist only in the mind, not in nature. That’s why it was such an important symbol for the Symbolists and Surrealists.

But back to that damned star.

RAYMOND ROUSSEL wrote a book (play) called Star in the Forehead (L’Etoile au Front) in 1925.

As I dug into Roussel’s bio, I found out that Cocteau and Roussel were both friends of Guillaume Apollinaire, who had a star-shaped wound in his forehead from WW I.

Apollinaire was left with a battle wound on his temple after serving in WW I.

It left a star shaped wound in his forehead; Cocteau writes in one of his autobio works that that’s what inspired him to start putting the star after his signature. Same reason that Roussel wrote Star in the Forehead, where he says the star symbolizes the genius (daemon) of creativity being hatched within the mind.

Both did it as an homage to Apollinaire, the founder of Surrealism.

what do we know about neurocam

Re: What Do We Know About Yellow-1 (Y-1) And Neurocam?

Neurocam was the work of an Australian based artist, funded with a grant from Arts Victoria. An article in The Age (a Victorian newspaper) which was later cross-posted to metafilter, brought it to popular attention in 2004.

It reached its peak early in 2006, however without further funding it was unable to continue in the stlye which had first brought it noterioty. In 2008 it formally ceased operations.

Artistically its style might be considered closest to DaDa, although it professed to no particular ideology. While its literary influences drew from works such as Thomas Pynchon’s ‘The Crying of Lot 49’, Umberto Echo’s ‘Foucault’s Pendulum’, L. Frank Baum’s ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, ‘The Magus’ by John Fowles, and to a lesser extent Robert Anton Wilson’s ‘Illuminatis trilogy’.

Yellow one was formed in the latter part of 2008 by former members of Neurocam’s online community. Its stated aim at the time was to perpetuate the Mythos which Neurocam created.

Dr Eric Walker and MJ-12

August 30, 1987 Interview Bill Steinman with Dr. Walker

Walker: Yes. I know of MJ-12. I have know of them for 40 years. I believe that you’re chasing after and fighting with windmills!!

March 8, 1990 Interview Henry Victorian and Dr. Walker

Azadehdel (…) But, Doctor, I have been reading this book called Above Top Secret. There are some documents there referring to a group known as MJ -12. Have you heard of them?

Dr Walker For a long time now. I have nothing to do with them.

Azadehdel Are the documents authentic?

Dr Walker I don’t think so.

Azadehdel Doctor. Is there such a group still active?

Dr Walker How good is your mathematics?

Azadehdel As good as it could be for a doctor in physics, but why?

Dr Walker Because only a couple people are capable of handling this issue. Unless your mind ability is like Einstein’s or likewise, I do not think you can achieve anything.

Azadehdel well, Doctor, for years I have been trying. But, are there government scientists?

Dr Walker Everyone mistakes this issue. I gather by that you mean whether they work for the Defense establishments of the military.

Azadehdel Yes, Doctor, that is what I meant.

Dr. Walker Well, that is where you are wrong. They are a Handful Of Elite. When you are invited into that group I would know. (…)

Azadehdel Are you a member of that group?

Dr Walker I cannot answer that. How good is your sixth sense? How much do you know about ESP?

Azadehdel I know to some degree about ESP and EVP. But, what has that got to do with it?

Dr Walker Unless you know about it, and how to use it, you would not be taken in. Only a few know about it.

blind alleys and expanded realities

The Aquarium Conspiracy

Even a small hint that the government is worried about the end of the world might start a chain reaction of panic, which could possibly serve as a trigger for the eschaton. On the other hand, people inside the government might be wanting to set up a kind of civil defense network vis a vis the eschaton, and so they would be looking for people on the outside who could much more freely network among the general public.

An important link in the communication chain is what has become known as the Aviary. This is the final link next to the public network, and so it must be heavily disguised by its own surrealistic smoke screen. The Aviary functions best by amplifying people’s own misconceptions about the paranormal. It does this by helping to overinflate individual pieces of the puzzle so that particular investigators get pushed further into their own blind alleys. People are encouraged to be so distracted by the trees that they fail to see the forest.

This cacophony by people looking for truth in all the strangest places provides an excellent cover for the deadly serious business of clearing the decks and battening down the hatches for the eschaton event. It is like a Manhattan Project going on behind the scenes of alien grays and praying mantises having sex with humans. However, this eschaton conspiracy is being orchestrated by higher powers, and we don’t mean the Committee of 300. Very few of the people even near the center of the orchestration have a clear picture of what is coming down, but they do know that something is coming and that they will have front row seats.

The Manhattan Project relative to the eschaton is a global civilian network of people who will serve as a lightning rod for the cosmic energies coming in during the consciousness revolution. They will be looking to channel these energies into expanded realities. Thus, they will provide a degree of protection for those people who can find their places alongside the network. Outside of the network there will be greater levels of trauma and confusion.

… probably the most interesting viral marketing campaign of its time …

from La Giovinezza. The reprise. My love and kindness. post by Blanket

So my little buddy from the other night.. “M.C.” said quite a lot.. Let’s break it down shall we?

Here is my contribution. I believe that Tex Arcana will understand it the best. This is about small-town America. I think Tex knows something about small towns and how a “big man” in the community often decides what happens and doesn’t happen in the lives of countless others.

A “big man” who wanted to be even bigger—and who eventually grew to enormous proportions in his own particular pond—was looking once for a way to propel his small town and hopelessly rural county into a famous and renowned tourist destination.

And this is true. Big man in town, Atlanta, MI to be exact. Owns a hotel, a bar, a gas station.. Couple of others possibly. Biiig town. Last census taken was about 800 give or take. Makes the tiny town I live in look like New York. So this guy wants more, as all people in his position do. But how? How does one bring in business to a hotel, a bar and a gas station in literally Bumfuck, MI.. (It’s in the upper NE of MI.. They’re just about Canadian..)

Tourism.. Gas in the tanks, a bar to eat and have a drink in, and a hotel to pass out in at night..

But how?? Well.. They have a lot of forest up there, good hunting seasons, outdoor sports and the like.. But it wasn’t enough for the “Big Fish”.. (“Chatter” is his nickname.. I don’t find it necessary to post his name at this time..)

Well, then you just make somethin’ up and spread the news.. Once again you ask.. How? How can you just make shit up and expect people to come running? You can’t put up signs that say… “Portal This Way.. Watch Your Step” … “Gnome Crossing”…. “Now Entering the 2AR, Management Is Not Responsible For Accidents”….

Virally. Via the internet. That’s how.. Genius really. Enter Kolar.. He was in advertising. And possibly related to “Chatter”..

Make up a story on the net. On a big forum, like lets say..

Now of course you can’t just come out and say.. “Holy shit.. I was just in Atlanta, MI the other day, staying at the Win-Sans hotel.. And the owner took me out and showed me a damn portal to another universe.. There were freaking gnomes everywhere and I think I freaked out!!!!”

Of course not. Viral advertising is subtle.. It builds.. Enter Apacheunger.. The infamous “I drove out of the world for 20 mins..” thread on… Where a lady describes a trip that took a little detour into an alternate realm.. I think she only posted like twice and then the thread took on a life of it’s own.. More people showed up and started corroborating her story with stories of their own and JPK came up, with his book “Proofs of My Return”.. Stories from people like Jon Grantly (Kolar himself). Timmistral and others.. Subtle-like giving the supposed location of this event outside of Atlanta, MI..

And it grew.. Fueled by the imagination of Kolar and a handful of writers, based in part on folklore about the portals that came in part from “Lorenzo”, Mr. Durkee.. So now it began. The portals, the location.. Now all that needed to be done was to flesh out the characters.. Such as John Palifox Key and his mysterious book..

So instead of just writing about his book… Enter Joey Leguay.. The ruggedly handsome world travelling classically trained Latinist, who just happened to have a copy of the book lying around on his kitchen table when he was a kid. His brother Eric and some friends apparently used the book to track down a portal over in Delaware, and had a terribly frightening experience.. If you read you know the rest of the story..

Most of this backstory for Leguay and such came of course from the sultry stripper, Paula Denail.. Her famous blog that many have read time and time again, and is posted in it’s entirety at this very forum.. Also threads appeared all over the Paranormal and Latin forums discussing portals, “Toddlers on the Telephone like adults” (Full Jumpers)posted by “Leguay” from one of his logins “custodiatene”.. Also he posted as Ferabo later on after a brief absense, and one other I can think of..

Somewhere in here the troll wars began, with the likes of Unseen Dave and MNI.. But that in a nutshell is how it started. And then moved to other forums.. But it’s genesis on the net at least was far as I can tell. It’s where the bulk of it is at least..

You see. Advertising really DOES make the world go around.

So yes. Advertising does pay. It was Kolar’s job to do so. And he along with some rather creative and convincing writers at the time, created probably the most interesting viral marketing campaign of its time. All to generate some interest in a town in the middle of nowhere, so some “Big Fish” could get bigger….

There’s more of course.. But mostly details, dead ends and creative writers masturbatory fantasies.

The story has continued, and new writers have come into the fray.. And it pops up from time to time at different websites of the woo-woo variety.. Like claims of finding the book.. And such is Jody..

In the end…

Just a big advertisement for Atlanta, MI..

eerily familiar feelings

from The Name of the Game is DIPLOMACY post by eerily familiar feelings

because this saga is reminiscent of something very similar that began in 2001 or 2002 on a large paranormal forum and in some ways still continues…

and before i begin madly connecting things that hopefully (as in please don’t let this be the same gang of misogynists, sociopaths, psychopaths and sadists…but now that i put it that way, would it be better or worse to find a second group? shit.) do not connect, can those of you who have watched this closely since the beginning tell me if ANY of the following names/places/themes etc. ring a bell?

regardless, both had/have a common goal: divide and conquer a forum that posed a threat to TPTB in some way. the other forum was in many ways much like glp at its best, a global think tank brimming with intellect and experience…

a Soul Group.

back to the point. do any of the following set off alarm bells or get someone’s spidey sense tingling?

the Bretagne region of France
vin mariani
fly agaric/amanita muscaria/soma
montmorency michigan
constitution lake, atlanta
ong’s hat
rusty, harley, minnesota
john mchugh
joey or joel
tim mistralec
paula, heidi
idaho, basques
unseen david

i could provide more if necessary…

PLEASE – if you associate any of the “players” involved in glp’s demise with anything on that list, and i’m not looking for any names, btw, post your thoughts here. there were simply too many things in just the first 10 pages of this thread that reminded me of what happened before that i feel i have to see if there’s a connection.

neither answer will make me any more comfortable, tho.

Weird Tales comments

I strongly suggest that all of you who are so interested in this topic obtain and read a copy of THE GUNSLINGER, by Stephen King. It is the first volume of a seven volume series which he began on june 19, 1970, and finished in 2004 by the Grace of Gan.

Most of your questions are answered there.
